COZAD, Neb. — Jay Edwards is doing everything he can to help people from Tenneco find jobs.

Edwards, human resources manager at Tenneco, is working to help the estimated 500 workers who will lose their jobs.

“By and large people want to stay here,” Edwards said.

Tenneco was the focus of an employer’s luncheon Thursday organized by Dawson Area Development.

About 30 business leaders from Dawson County gathered at Chipper Hall in Cozad to discuss how they could hire people from the plant into their businesses.

While Edwards acknowledged there was a schedule for the layoffs expected to begin in March, he did not want to get into specific numbers. Instead, he is choosing to give the people of his company every opportunity to be re-employed in Dawson County.

He said he would be happy to tout any of his employees to a prospective employer.
