Iowa fire departments to get grants

Four southwest Iowa fire departments are among 29 in the state that will share in nearly $1.5 million in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The latest round of FEMA grants was announced this week.

Three departments will get grants to use toward training, equipment and modifications to stations and facilities: Avoca Fire and Rescue, $47,348; Carson Volunteer Fire Department, $59,850; and Macedonia Fire and Rescue, $54,986.

The Manilla Fire Department will get $267,425 to help buy a vehicle.
