‘Temptation’ to play Lincoln
“Into Temptation,” a movie written and directed by Omaha native Patrick Coyle, will run Friday through Feb. 18 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, 313 N. 13th St. in Lincoln.
Coyle, who now lives in Minneapolis, will appear at the opening-night 7:30 p.m. screening and take questions from the audience.

Films focus on resolving conflict
Three films that deal with resolving conflict will be part of a series at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater, 14th and Mike Fahey (formerly Webster) Streets. The series is co-sponsored by the Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at Creighton University’s School of Law. The films:
“The Story of Qui Ju,” 7 p.m. Thursday. A Chinese peasant woman seeks justice in a highly bureaucratic society.
“The Sweet Hereafter,” 7 p.m. Feb. 18. Adapted from the Russell Banks novel. A small community grieves after a horrible school bus accident kills several children. A lawyer approaches some parents about a class action lawsuit.
“9500 Liberty,” 7 p.m. Feb. 24. A provocative documentary about a community at the center of the debate over immigration policy.
Each screening will be followed by a discussion about conflict escalation, the limits of legal and political systems and effective methods for constructive conflict resolution.

Talent sought for youth night
If you’re an artist under age 25, your performance piece could be part of a Young Artists Night at the Holland Center, 13th and Douglas Streets.
Metropolitan Community College and Omaha Performing Arts are seeking original dramatic works for “Young Artists Night: Exploding/Exploring Fairy Tales, Fables, Myths and Youth.”
The pieces will be conceived and rehearsed over the course of three Saturday workshops, Feb. 20 and 27 and March 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visual artists, musicians, writers, actors, singer-songwriters, dancers, poets and directors should register by Feb. 15.

Applause for notable actors
Performers familiar to Omaha theater audiences are garnering fine reviews on stages in other cities.
Jane Noseworthy was singled out for praise in a production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel” at the Freud Playhouse in Los Angeles last week. Noseworthy plays Carrie Pipperidge, the best friend of lead Julie and the show’s comic relief.
Noseworthy played the lead in “Wonder of the World” at the Omaha Community Playhouse in 2004 and had a featured role in “Urinetown” at the playhouse in 2007.
Paul Coate is part of a widely praised production of another musical, “The Light in the Piazza,” at the Bloomington Theatre and Art Center in the Minneapolis area. Coate played a friar in the 2008 Nebraska Shakespeare Festival production of “Much Ado About Nothing.”
