The pressures of Valentine’s Day lead to breakups and makeups among an all-star cast in “Valentine’s Day,” which opens Friday. If you’re not in the mood for love, try “The Wolfman” in which Benicio Del Toro discovers a side of himself he didn’t know existed. Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins co-star. More action and adventure arrive with “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” in which teen Logal Lerman must find out who stole a Greek god’s lightning bolt while also rescuing his mother.
Maybe they should call it “the scoop”
Omaha's eCreamery is hitting “The View” this week. The shop created custom flavors for Barbara Walters and her co-hosts, who are expected to sample them during Monday's show (10 a.m. on ABC). Special treat for locals: Note the name of Walters' flavor and tell it to the folks at the Dundee ice cream shop, and you'll get two ice creams for the price of one.
A colorful menagerie dance in 'The Rainforest'
Omaha Theater Ballet's final performance isn't a typical swan song. It's more like a snake, leopard and butterfly song. The company, which disbands after its performances this month, will present an original ballet called “The Rainforest.” Dancers will be decked out as colorful rainforest creatures. Performances are Thursday through Feb. 21 at the Rose Theater.
More than a sound bite of intelligence for your life
Why did John Tesh walk away from one of the most high-profile gigs on TV? The former “Entertainment Tonight” co-anchor will show us this weekend at the Holland Performing Arts Center, where he performs with the Omaha Symphony. His concerts are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Take controller in ‘Aliens vs. Predator'
The movies may have been terrible, but the video game “Aliens vs. Predator” (where the rivalry of violent alien races gained popularity) will be a lot better. Fight in separate campaigns as an alien, a predator or a human Marine in several modes including “Survivor,” where you and your friends see who can stay alive longest amid an infestation of Aliens. Pick it up for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or PC on Tuesday.
One For the Team will add pep to glummest on V-Day
No date on Valentine's Day? Head over to the Waiting Room to catch Minneapolis band One For the Team, whose sparkly pop rock tunes will have you feeling fine, even if you're a bit lonely. Tickets to the 9 p.m. show are $8.
