    Some Super leftovers

8:25 p.m.: A few extra thoughts from a Super Bowl Sunday to remember:

    1. I love New Orleans. I've been to three Final Fours, the 1984 Worlds Fair, a Jazz Fest and a handful of Sugar Bowls. It's an amazing city to visit. With apologies to Mike'l Severe, I wouldn't want to live there. Anyway, I have several friends who do live there. I know what they've been through, especially in recent years. I was rooting for the city as much as the Saints. When Porter made the pick six, I leaped up and cheered. It's one of the rare feel-good Super Bowl outcomes.

    2. Please, enough of the "Peyton Manning greatest ever” talk. First, I'm sorry, but Joe Montana, John Elway and Troy Aikman don't throw that pick. Second, why does it seem like we are so anxious these days to annoint a “greatest ever” in sports? I've said it a million times: there's no such thing. It's not a title you can win or earn. It's an opinion, a bar stool debate. I love what Rod Laver had the guts to say in front of Roger Federer last July after Federer passed Pete Sampras: there's no greatest ever, but every era has a greatest player who defined that era, and it's impossible to compare over the different eras. I'd go with that. And I'd still go with Tom Brady for this era. But Manning isn't done yet. Maybe. My Chargers beat him the last two years in the playoffs. People seem to forget that.

    3. The Colts suddenly look like the Atlanta Braves of the NFL (not the Bills; the Colts won a Super Bowl).

    4. The commercial nobody talked about today on the radio shows, etc., was the one where Brett Favre wins the 2020 Super Bowl MVP. That was very, very clever. Somehow, I think Favre is back next year. He has no problem poking fun of himself. But I think part of it is, he's coming back. I could be wrong.

    5. I know what XM radio is. I bought it for my father a few years ago because he grew up listening to baseball and shows on the radio. But I had never experienced it until today. Somebody side-swiped my car last week (and didn't stick around!) in a slick parking lot, and so I'm having the press box mobile worked on this week. My rental has XM. It's amazing, especially if you love music. I'm going to go live in that car tonight and for the rest of the week.
