Three hurt in 75th & Blondo crash

A two-car crash Tuesday in north-central Omaha injured three people, one critically.

According to Omaha police, this is what happened:

A red 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier was eastbound on Blondo Street about 3:20 p.m. when its driver stopped to turn left onto 75th Street. While she waited, an eastbound silver 2005 GMC Yukon rear-ended the Cavalier.

"The whole back end was destroyed," Officer Chuck Casey said of the Chevrolet.

The Cavalier’s occupants were pinned and had to be pried from the car. They were taken by ambulance to the Nebraska Medical Center. As of Tuesday night, police said none of the injuries appeared life-threatening.

Police cited the Yukon driver, a 46-year-old Omaha woman, on suspicion of careless driving.
