Police are investigating whether the Monday gun slaying of a 15-year-old boy is related to a Saturday shooting death.
They made an arrest early Tuesday in the Saturday slaying of Maurice P. Parker, 19, booking Cary L. McCarty, 19, in connection with Parker's death.
McCarty, of 5422 N. 33rd Ave., was pulled over near 31st and Taylor Streets in a car that matched witness descriptions of a vehicle from the shooting.
McCarty was arrested on suspicion of criminal homicide and weapon use. Police would not yet discuss a possible motive.
Parker was found injured about 11 p.m. Saturday outside Kelley's Hilltop Lanes, 1313 N. 48th Ave. He died at Creighton University Medical Center.
Investigators continue looking for ties between that slaying and the Monday afternoon shooting of Everett E. Williams Jr., found near 48th and Bedford Avenues.
Williams, a Benson High student, was walking to a bus stop about 3:10 p.m. Monday, when shots rang out, witnesses said. He died at the scene.
A young man who arrived after the shooting yelled that “Crips” had shot his friend. Later, a Benson High school resource officer tried to calm several teens.
In November, Williams was arrested in the robbery of a 19-year-old man. The charge was later amended down, the case pending in juvenile court.
Police urged anyone with information on the shootings to call the homicide unit at 444-5656 or Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP.
