Tanning regulations

Federal: The Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission share the responsibility of regulating sunlamps and tanning devices, the National Tanning Training Institute says. The FDA typically enforces regulations that deal with the labeling and manufacturing of tanning devices, while the FTC investigates false, misleading and deceptive advertising claims about the devices.

Iowa: Enforces regulations and fees, conducts inspections of tanning facilities and requires formal training and testing.

Nebraska: No regulations on tanning operations.
