P'Allen Stinnett's season is over. Is his Creighton career finished, too?
The latter is open to speculation after coach Dana Altman announced in a release Sunday that Stinnett's indefinite suspension will last for the remainder of the season.
Altman suspended the junior Jan. 25 for conduct unacceptable to the team. He has repeatedly declined to comment on Stinnett's status in the three weeks since the original announcement.
Altman said Sunday night he had no additional comment on the announcement. Attempts to reach Stinnett were unsuccessful.
Stinnett had been Creighton's second-leading scorer, averaging 9.2 points per game, when suspended. The 6-foot-3 guard led the team in scoring as a freshman, and earlier this season became the 33rd player in school history to score 1,000 points.
Whether Stinnett will be allowed to come back next season is uncertain. Altman will meet with his returning players after the season ends to discuss the future. Last spring, two players with eligibility remaining — Kenton Walker and Cavel Witter — left the program, although Witter later returned for this season.
Stinnett has mixed the terrific with the temperamental throughout his first three seasons at Creighton. He scored 23 points in his Creighton debut to rally the Bluejays to a win over DePaul. He had 30 points in a victory last season over New Mexico.
He also has received nine technical fouls in his career, including two this season. His ninth came in a Jan. 24 game against Missouri State, the night before he was suspended.
