Rules for rebates

Only residents and stores within each state are eligible. Purchases must replace old appliances. Purchases made before programs begin are ineligible.

Iowa residents may reserve coupons beginning at 8 a.m. March 1 by dialing a toll-free telephone number or going to a Web site, both of which will be announced Monday.

Nebraskans can get rebates at participating stores beginning in mid-April or May 1.

Nebraska retailers will access a Web site that will lock in coupons on a first-come, first-served basis and show how much money the program has left.

Consumers must mail rebate coupons and a proof of purchase within 30 days.

If paperwork is not mailed within 30 days, the money will be returned to the program.

Consumers should receive checks three to four weeks after mailing the forms.
