    Suh decision to make waves?

12:40 p.m.: Interesting take from John Clayton of ESPN regarding former Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and his intention to take part in all drills at the NFL combine. Clayton writes today on his blog that Suh might force some others to rethink what they will and won’t do in Indianapolis as the combine starts Wednesday and runs through March 2.

Clayton rates the competition between Suh and former Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy as the No. 2 storyline for the combine, writing:

"Suh is putting pressure on every player considered near the top of the draft. Although the Nebraska star has been considered the top pick for more than a month, he says he will work out and try to put on a show at the combine. That could pressure McCoy and Tennessee safety Eric Berry to work out as well.

"Suh is a freak. Some consider him to be the best defensive tackle prospect since Warren Sapp. The St. Louis Rams could take Suh with the first pick, and there is some thought that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would consider trading up from No. 3 to grab him.’’

Suh, safety Larry Asante and linebacker Phillip Dillard will represent Nebraska at the combine. Former Husker center Jacob Hickman also had an invitation but told The World-Herald two weeks ago that he would decline it and was finished with football.

Some notes of interest on other former Big 12 players as the combine nears:

    - Quarterback Sam Bradford of Oklahoma will be in Indianapolis but not partaking in any drills, according to NFL.com. Bradford is recovering from shoulder surgery, and his agents have informed all 32 NFL teams that he will not work out until March 25.

    - Quarterback Colt McCoy of Texas is still rehabilitating a shoulder injury suffered in the national championship game but will try to throw at the combine.

    - Receiver Danario Alexander of Missouri is coming off surgery on his left knee and won’t participate. Alexander, who hurt the knee at the Senior Bowl, also will miss the Mizzou pro day on March 4.

    - McCoy will be one of seven former Longhorns in Indianapolis. Among those will be safety Earl Thomas, who left Texas with two years of eligibility remaining but has been running 40-yard dashes in the 4.3-second range, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

    - Perrish Cox of Oklahoma State will try to build off momentum generated at the Senior Bowl. The cornerback and kick returner is one of three former Cowboys with high draft projections, joining offensive tackle Russell Okung and receiver Dez Bryant.
