Douglas County officials unopposed

Seven incumbent Douglas County officials are expected to keep their elected posts this year, as none will face a political opponent.

Running unopposed are Assessor Roger Morrissey, County Attorney Don Kleine, Clerk of the District Court John Friend, Engineer Tom Doyle, Sheriff Tim Dunning, Treasurer John Ewing Jr. and County Board member Pam Tusa.

In addition, Republican P.J. Morgan, a former mayor of Omaha, will run unopposed for the County Board’s District 4 seat. That seat was left open when long-time Commissioner Kyle Hutchings announced last year that he would not seek re-election.

In contrast, four years ago, heated races were held for the treasurer, assessor and county attorney.

Mary Ann Borgeson is the lone Douglas County incumbent facing opposition this election year.

Borgeson, a Republican member of the County Board, will face Andrew Miller, a Democrat who filed for office Monday.
