4:32 p.m.: The interest in Nebraska's spring coaches clinic has been as good as one might expect since the Huskers announced last month who would be coming, according to Jeff Jamrog.
NU has Bobby Bowden lined up to speak April 2, the middle of the three-day clinic that runs in conjunction with spring practice.
"We're probably ahead of schedule,'' said Jamrog, NU's assistant athletic director for football. "A lot of people are interested with Coach Bowden coming up. You know he's in high demand so we're fortunate that he's able to come here.''
Jamrog said Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne made the initial call to Bowden and the arrangement was made over following correspondence. Osborne and Bowden went head-to-head eight times during their coaching careers at NU and FSU, respectively.
Since the announcement, Jamrog said Bowden sent a one-page hand-written letter to NU coach Bo Pelini saying he looked forward to the visit and always enjoyed his dealings with the Huskers.
The Nebraska spring clinic regularly draws between 700 and 800 coaches. Jamrog said NU can handle more, if necessary.
Those seeking information can visit Huskers.com or call the NU football office at 402-472-3116. Cost is $50 per coach before March 29, and $60 after or at the door.
