Omaha World-Herald reporter Lee Barfknecht has been named 2009 sportswriter of the year for Nebraska by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
Barfknecht, who covers the Big 12 and Nebraska men’s basketball among other things, shares the award with Mike Babcock of Huskers Illustrated.
Barfknecht has won the state award 11 times in the 51 years it has been presented.
