Pass the Parmesan: A spaghetti dinner fundraiser runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Papillion-La Vista South High School, 108th Street and Nebraska Highway 370. The school's Navy Junior ROTC is raising money to compete in the National High School Drill Team Championships in Daytona Beach, Fla. Dinner tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 3 to 12, free for ages 2 and younger.

Into Africa: Benson's Pizza Shoppe Collective, 6058 Maple St., is hosting a benefit concert Sunday for two Omaha musicians who will share music in daily class sessions with children in South Africa for three weeks. All proceeds will support travel expenses and teaching supplies for Jen Hill and Andrea Krab. Omaha-based bands The 9's and the Korey Anderson Band perform from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is a minimum donation of $10. The Collective will also donate 10 percent of the evening's food proceeds.

Give and get: Younkers will kick off its Goodwill Sale with a “Stuff the Truck” event for Goodwill. In exchange for each item given, donors will receive coupons for merchandise at Younkers stores from Wednesday through March 24.

Bidding and building: Rocking in the Fifties, the 17th Annual Fremont Area Habitat for Humanity Auction, will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday with a silent auction. The live auction will start at 7 p.m. Events will be at the Midland Lutheran College Event Center in Fremont, Neb. All proceeds will help build five new homes and remodel an existing home this year. The auction is open to the public.

Helping in Valley: The sixth annual dinner and auction for the Strong Kids Campaign of the Twin Rivers YMCA in Valley will be March 20 at the Y. The silent auction and social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. and the live auction at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple. Reservations can be made by calling the Twin Rivers Y at 359-9622 or by e-mail to dbaker@metroymca.org.

One yard at a time: Keep Omaha Beautiful asks that elderly or disabled people who cannot afford to have their yards cleaned in the spring call 444-7774. The group also seeks volunteers to help clean the yards. Call or go to www.keepomahabeautiful.org.

Full of heart: Mended Hearts is a national program that offers hospital visits and support for survivors of heart disease, their families and caregivers. This is a free program and no registration is required. The next meeting will be 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 17. Call Methodist Hospital Cardiac Company at 354-4190 for more information, including meeting location.

Aid for Haiti: Co-owners of Seven Salon, Shannon Stickman and Nikki Okun, have organized Hair for Haiti, a benefit for the nation devastated by an earthquake. The fundraiser will run from noon to 5 p.m. March 14 at Seven Salon (both locations), Garbo's Eagle Run, Bangs, BUNGALOW/eight, Sirens, Salon Halo and Roxy's Salon. Take a byte for Africa: The fundraiser “Computers for Africa: Sending Mice on a Mission” will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 19 at Creighton Prep Commons. Computers for Africa refurbishes donated used computers from Omaha-area businesses and ships them to schools in northern Uganda. Computer and Internet training for teachers is part of the program. Tickets for the silent auction, entertainment, pasta dinner, raffle and market are $35 a person. Go to www.computers4africa.org to buy tickets or donate.

A tisket, a tasket: The Bennington Women's Club's annual Basket Auction will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 18 at St. John Lutheran Church, 322 N. Molley St. in Bennington. All proceeds go to support local needs such as the school, library and community organizations.

Lenten savings: The Siena-Francis House wants families to try a do-it-yourself fundraiser for the homeless shelter. During Lent, the shelter asks families to dine at home for a meal they typically would eat in a restaurant. The money saved can then be donated to the Siena-Francis House, 1702 Nicholas St., P. O. Box 217 Downtown Station, Omaha, NE 68101.

For the boys and girls: Operation Treats for Troops is a service project that is part of this year's cookie program at Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa. Donate through neighborhood Girl Scout Booth Sales or online. Find Cookie Booth Sales through April 18. Visit www.girlscoutsiowa.org for booth locations or to donate.

Meet the challenge: Together Inc. needs help raising money and collecting food during March and April to meet a challenge from the Feinstein Foundation. The more money and food Together Inc. raises, the more foundation money it will get. How can you help? Have a food or fund drive anytime between now and April 30. Lace your shoes: In connection with the March 27 National Epilepsy Walk in Washington, D.C., the Omaha walk will be the same day. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., with the walk from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Shadow Lake Towne Center, 72nd Street and Nebraska Highway 370 in Papillion. There will be activities for kids, including balloon makers and face painting. To register as a walker, a virtual walk or to donate, go to http://www.walkforepilepsy.org.

Don't drive, donate: Your unwanted or unneeded vehicle can help the Nebraska Kidney Association save lives and provide support to the 150,000 Nebraskans at risk for kidney disease, the 1,500 already undergoing dialysis and those who have had any type of organ transplants. Call 1-888-642-8543, or visit www.kidneyne.org and complete the required form online for the K-Car program. Arrangements will be made to tow your vehicle to where it will be sold. All types of vehicles are accepted.

Husker power: TeamMates Mentoring Program received a check for $1,500 from Smashburger, which has two stores in Omaha. Starting with the Oct. 17 Texas Tech game and continuing until the end of the last Husker football season, Smashburger donated $1 to Teammates for every Husker Smashburger sold on game days.

Just sign up: The Fremont (Neb.) Area United Way has a convenient online tool for volunteers. The Fremont Volunteer Connection lets interested individuals or groups connect with local nonprofit volunteer opportunities. There is no cost to participate. Help the puppies: Hooves & Paws Rescue, a no-kill shelter and rescue in Glenwood, Iowa, is taking donations to pay the vet bill for a rescued dog and her 10 puppies. Pumped for Haiti: The University of Nebraska Medical Center recently held a “Push-ups for Haiti” event in which employees got people to pledge money for how many push-ups they could do. Sixteen participants cranked out 808 push-ups, raising $8,710 for the UNMC Haitian Relief and Outreach Fund through the University of Nebraska Foundation.

More Haiti help: Gordmans Inc. raised $105,000 during a three-week campaign to support American Red Cross relief efforts for victims of the Haitian earthquake.
