Several Sioux City media outlets reported Monday night that basketball standout Wesley Staten has transferred from Sioux City West to Sioux City Heelan.
Staten, now a sophomore, committed to Iowa State as a freshman at West. Heelan coach Tom Betz told Sioux City television station KTIV that Staten was in class at Heelan on Monday.
Staten was a second-team all-state selection last year as a freshman at West. Heelan plays Tuesday night in the Class 3-A state tournament against Carroll. Staten will not be eligible to play in a basketball game until the 2010-11 season.
West was 4-17 this season. Heelan is 19-4 and is in the state tournament for the fourth straight year.
