    Monarchs' Albers commits to Kansas

All-Metro Conference volleyball player Chelsea Albers of Papillion-La Vista said Monday that she has orally committed to play at Kansas.

Albers, a 6-foot-1 junior, moved from the middle to the outside hitter position for the Monarchs in the fall. She responded with 496 kills and a hitting percentage of .323.

She also is one of the top basketball players in the state, averaging 21.5 points this season to lead Class A.

“It wasn't a tough choice for me between the two sports,” she said. “I like basketball, but volleyball has always been my first love.”

Albers said she chose Kansas over Iowa State, North Carolina and Mississippi.

“I fell in love with the Kansas campus when I visited there,” she said. “They've got a great medical school, and I want to go into pre-med.”
