TEMPE, Ariz. — Creighton managed only two hits in a 4-0 loss at eighth-ranked Arizona State Tuesday night. The Sun Devils (16-2) scored three runs in the third inning and tacked on another in the fourth to snap the Bluejays' five-game winning streak.
The Bluejays (9-5) had runners on base in four of the first six innings, including a leadoff single by Michelle Koch in the second inning. Liz McKewon smacked a two-out double in the sixth inning, but was stranded at second base.
CU pitcher Tara Oltman was lifted after four innings in favor of sophomore left-hander Kylie Hovinga. Hovinga set down all six batters she faced in two innings of scoreless relief. Oltman (7-3) allowed four earned runs in four innings pitched.
The Bluejays return to Farrington Stadium on Wednesday when they play St. John's and then have a rematch with the Sun Devils.
