Bellevue gunshot injures teen

By Andrew J. Nelson
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

A 17-year-old suffered a gunshot wound Wednesday, though Bellevue police said they did not consider his wounds life-threatening.

The teen was being driven to the hospital by an aunt when she stopped at 24th Avenue and Calhoun Streets about 4:35 p.m. to call 911, Bellevue Police Chief John Stacey said.

Police and paramedics found the youth with wounds to a hand and a leg. He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center in serious condition.

Police still were trying to determine where the shooting took place. The teen did not cooperate with investigators, providing information Stacey described as "sketchy."
