It's tornado season. Do you know which corner of the basement to crouch in if a funnel is bearing down on your home?
If you're like me and can't always remember, so much the better. Emergency officials say there is no value to hiding in one particular corner or the other. Instead, seek shelter under the sturdiest structure in your basement. This might be the stairwell.
What's most important is to have a strong structure around or above you so that if your home collapses, you are protected from falling debris.
If you don't have a basement, seek shelter in your home's sturdiest interior room -- and away from windows.
