TUCSON, Ariz. — Creighton recovered from a 9-5 loss to St. John's in its first game of the Wildcat Invitational to knock off Minnesota 5-0 in the Bluejays' second game on Friday.
Renae Sinkler homered twice on the day, including a three-run shot against the Golden Gophers in the first inning to bring her Missouri Valley Conference-leading total to 10. While Sinkler now has 36 career home runs — one shy of the school record shared by Lauren Cisneros and Stacey Rybar — Tara Oltman tossed her 37th career shutout, tying her for second in Missouri Valley Conference history. The complete game was her 102nd, also tied for second in the Valley and just one shy of the record.
CU (11-7) continues tournament play, facing No. 2 Arizona Saturday at 6 p.m., followed by Illinois-Chicago at 8 p.m.
