The charge: Impersonating lawyer

By Jason Kuiper
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

A 48-year-old Omaha man is accused of impersonating a lawyer.

The man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of six counts of unauthorized practice of law and three counts of criminal impersonation.

The man owns and operates a company called Parental Rights that specializes in divorce, custody, visitation and child support issues, according to a police report.

Police say the man, who is not a licensed attorney in Nebraska, submitted court filings on behalf of others.

Police were alerted to the man by the Nebraska Bar Association.

The report says the activity took place from September to late February.

The man was expected in court Friday afternoon.
