TUCSON, Ariz. — Despite a record home run from Renae Sinkler, Creighton couldn't produce a win Saturday at the Wildcat Invitational as the Bluejays fell 6-0 to second-ranked Arizona in their opener and 6-3 to Illinois-Chicago in the nightcap.
CU (11-9) could only manage one hit of freshman Kenzie Fowler, the two-time Gatorade national prep player of the year, who struck out 17 to improve to 14-0 on the season.
Sinkler hit her school-record 37th homer, and 11th of the season, for the Jays. But CU, trailing 6-1 going into the bottom of the seventh couldn't mount a rally.
