MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Harvard posted a pair of runs in the sixth and eighth innings to salvage a 5-2 victory over Creighton on Sunday in the teams' final game at the Metrodome Tournament.
Trever Adams homered for the Bluejays (8-4) and Alex Staehely posted an RBI single to pace the Bluejay offense. Adams was the only Jay with multiple hits, finishing 2 for 4.
Kurt Spomer (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up the go-ahead run on a Dan Zailskis double in the sixth. Eric Eadington (1-1) picked up the victory, going seven strong innings. Zailskis came on to pitch the final two innings for his first save of the season.
The Jays got out to a 2-0 lead, courtesy of Adams and Staehely. Adams blasted a 414-foot homer to center field in the first inning for a 1-0 Creighton lead. Staehely followed in the second with a two-out single up the middle, scoring T.J. Roemmich for the second Jay run.
After the second, the Jays managed just three hits off of Eadington and Zailskis, as the pair combined for just four strikeouts, but walked just one.
Creighton will play Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
