The Iowa side of the Veterans Memorial Bridge, which spanned the Missouri River, was demolished Sunday, a Sarpy County dispatcher said.
About 600 feet of the bridge on the Nebraska side of the river was demolished Feb. 23.
The Iowa section of the structure came down just after 12:45 p.m..
The bridge, which opened in 1936 and also was known as the South Omaha Bridge, is being replaced by a new, $88 million bridge nearby. Construction of the new bridge is scheduled to be completed by June 1, just in time for the last College World Series at nearby Rosenblatt Stadium.
The old bridge served U.S. Highway 275 and State Highway 92. It connected to Missouri Avenue (eventually L Street) in Omaha.
