    WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

    Nebraska's road to San Antonio

    Nebraska

    • Record: 30-1

    • Last Ten: 9-1

    • Coach: Connie Yori

    • Tournament record: 3-8, 8 years.

    • Last appearance: 2008.

    • How they got here: At-large bid.

    • The skinny: Ran off 30 straight wins to start the season before falling to Texas A&M in conference semifinals. The Huskers are a senior-dominated team led by Kelsey Griffin. The only concern surrounding a deep run in the tournament is they don't have any real NCAA experience.

    NORTHERN IOWA

    • Record: 17-15

    • Last Ten: 7-3

    • Coach: Tanya Warren

    • Tournament record: First appearance.

    • How they got here: Missouri Valley champion.

    • The skinny: Lizzie Boeck had 53 points, 24 rebounds and 11 assists during the three games of the tournament. She hit on 20 of 35 shots from the field. After losing nine of its first 13 games, UNI rebounded nicely and won two of three games from Creighton.

    UCLA

    • Tournament record: 8-9, 9 years.

    • Last appearance: 2006

    • Record: 24-8

    • Last Ten: 9-1

    • Coach: Nikki Caldwell

    • How they got here: At-large bid

    • The skinny: Nikki Caldwell coached the Bruins to the NCAA tournament for the first time in four years. Moniquee Alexander, a 6-foot-6 center, is one of three seniors who helped UCLA win 14 of its past 16 games.

    NORTH CAROLINA STATE

    • Tournament record: 19-20, 20 years.

    • Last appearance: 2007

    • Record: 20-13

    • Last Ten: 7-3

    • Coach: Kellie Harper

    • How they got here: At-large bid

    • The skinny: Kellie Harper didn't have an easy task replacing Hall of Fame coach Kay Yow. She more than excelled with a few big regular-season victories. Still, the Wolfpack probably didn't solidify an NCAA spot until their run to the finals of the ACC tournament.
