A kitchen fire caused about $30,000 in damage Sunday to a home near 156th Street and West Dodge Road, an Omaha fire official said.
No one was hurt in the blaze, but the person renting the house had to find shelter elsewhere Sunday night, Battalion Chief Kevin Laughlin said.
The fire’s cause was under investigation, Laughlin said.
Firefighters were called to the wood-frame, raised-ranch-style house at 15118 Westchester Circle at 6:41 p.m.
A neighbor had called 911, reporting dark smoke coming from the house. No one was home at the time.
Firefighters found dogs in the yard, unhurt, Laughlin said. — Susan Szalewski
