A 6-year-old boy suffered a broken leg Tuesday afternoon when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle near 40th and Spaulding Streets, Omaha police said.
The child — identified as a boy who lives near the intersection, Kochnor Kong — was taken by ambulance to the Nebraska Medical Center about 4:10 p.m.
His injuries, which included a broken left femur, were not considered life-threatening, Omaha Police Sgt. Doug Klein said. He was listed in good condition Wednesday morning.
Police did not ticket the driver who was involved.
Kochnor had been walking on the west side of 40th Street when he ran across the street without looking, Klein said. A maroon 1996 Chevrolet Blazer had been traveling south on 40th and crested a hill as the boy crossed, the sergeant said.
An older brother tried unsuccessfully to stop the boy, Klein said.
