News of note:

• A military official with ties to the Bellevue-based U.S. Strategic Command is under investigation for running a secret spying network in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Alleged spymaster has StratCom ties

• Westside Community Schools has a new approach to head off problem behaviors before they occur. Stopping behavior problems

• Consumers who bought residential wind generators from a troubled Shenandoah, Iowa, firm apparently are out thousands of dollars. Prevailing Power made its last shipment Monday before permanently closing. Dangling in the wind

Among the day's happenings:

• Roads: Expect slowdowns on Q between 29th and 32 Streets. The stretch will be reduced to a single lane for both east and westbound traffic during the next week.

• The community will hold a sendoff ceremony at 3 p.m. for a Johnston-based Iowa Army National Guard unit. The ceremony is at Camp Dodge Freedom Center, 7105 NW 70th Ave. Contact: Lt. Col. Greg Hapgood, 515/252-4582.

• Attorneys for the Omaha Public Schools will ask a judge to dismiss a lawsuit challenging two learning community property tax levies as unconstitutional. The learning community council also seeks dismissal of the lawsuit filed by the Sarpy County Farm Bureau and two Sarpy County property owners. The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Sarpy County District Court.

• Jim Hendry, former Creighton baseball coach and now Chicago Cubs general manager, speaks at the annual Children's Scholarship Fund lunch. Several youths will be honored for their leadership, spirit and perseverance.

• Opening: "The Color Purple," 7:30 p.m., Orpheum Theater, 409 S. 16th St. The touring Broadway show runs through March 21. Tickets available in all price ranges: $28 to $62. Call 345-0606 or go to ticketomaha.com.
