Creighton senior first baseman Renae Sinkler has been named the Missouri Valley Conference softball player of the week after hitting four home runs and batting .320 during eight games in Arizona.
She is tied with Lauren Cisneros and Stacey Rybar as the Creighton career home run leader with 37.
Sinkler went 8 for 25 to keep her season average above .400, with a team-best .403 mark entering MVC play this weekend. She added 11 RBIs, scoring nine runs in the eight games Creighton played in Tempe and Tucson last week.
The Lincoln native also added her third career triple last week, when the Bluejays played three games against Top 10 opponents.
Sinkler tops the MVC with 11 home runs, 29 RBIs, a 1.032 slugging percentage, 19 runs scored and 64 total bases. Her 11 homers are tied for sixth in a single season at Creighton.
Sinkler has been named MVC player of the week twice in four weeks this season after earning the honor once during her MVC player of the year season in 2009.
After playing 18 of its first 21 games in Arizona and all of its games on the road this season, Creighton (12-9) is scheduled to open its home schedule this weekend with a three-game MVC series against Indiana State. The Bluejays and Sycamores (10-5) will play a doubleheader at noon Saturday and a single game at noon Sunday.
