    Alliance's Hooper receives second state honor

    ALLIANCE, Neb. — Alliance all-state honoree Jordan Hooper has been selected as the Nebraska Gatorade girls high school basketball player of the year for the second time.

    She also earned the honor in 2007-2008 as a sophomore.

    She led the Bulldogs to a third-place finish at the Class B state tournament this season and averaged 26.1 points, 15.2 rebounds, 5.0 blocked shots, 3.6 steals and 2.5 assists. The 6-foot-2 senior forward scored 47 points, a Class B tournament record, in a 70-59 victory against Omaha Skutt in the consolation game.

    Hooper, a Nebraska recruit, has a 4.76 weighted grade-point average and ranks No. 10 in her class. A member of the National Honor Society, she has volunteered for a canned food drive, a breast cancer awareness outreach, an elementary after-school program and as a Special Olympics helper.
