A press conference was held Wednesday to mark the three months that have passed since the mysterious disappearance of a Brazilian family living in Omaha.
Tatiane Klein, a relative of the family that came from Brazil to be closer to the investigation, spoke at the event organized by the non-profit organization, A Hand to Hold.
The event was held at the Eagles Nest Worship Center, 5775 Sorensen Parkway.
A spokesman for the Omaha Police Department said Wednesday the investigation was ongoing and investigators have no updated information.
The family — Vanderlei, Jacqueline and 7-year-old Christopher Szczepanik — have not been seen by friends or relatives since Dec. 17. Their apartment in a building near 16th and Center Streets remained full of personal belongings, as if they planned to return.
The couple, originally from Brazil, moved to Omaha from Florida about four years ago. Vanderlei Szczepanik came here to renovate the former Paul VI High School and St. Joseph Grade School campus into a missionary training center for the Assembly of God Bethlehem Ministry.
Police ask anyone with information to contact the homicide unit at 444-5656, or Crime Stoppers at 444-7867.
