NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) -- Union Pacific officials are trying to find out what caused eight cars to jump off tracks in the company's vast Bailey Yard in North Platte.
UP spokesman mark Davis said no one was injured in the accident. It occurred about 7:55 a.m. Wednesday.
Eight coal cars left the tracks, and seven tipped over completely.
Davis says two of the many yard tracks were still blocked Wednesday afternoon, but cleanup work was continuing.
He says the 24-car train was headed to Kentucky and had pulled into the yard for refueling and lubrication.
