One man went to a whole lot of work and ended up with nothing to show for it. Except for possible jail time, if police find him.

Omaha police want the public's help in finding a man who backed a pickup into the front door of the Tobacco 4 Less store, 2014 L St., in an attempt to steal a cash machine.

The incident happened about 4 a.m. March 6. Video surveillance shows the man back the white pickup through the door and then get out and attempt to put a chain around the ATM. The chain, though, was too short so the man fled the store in the pickup.

The pickup was found nearby, on fire.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP (7867). Information can also be submitted by sending a text message beginning "OPD" with your tip to CRIMES (274637). Or tips can be submitted online at www.OmahaCrimeStoppers.net.
