MCCOOK, Neb. (AP) -- Officials have postponed a groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site for a new Nebraska military facility near McCook.
The ceremony for the $7.9 million Armed Forces Reserve Center had been scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the site, south of the McCook airport near U.S. Highway 6.
But forecasts of bad weather forced the Guard to call off the ceremony until a later date, which has yet to be selected.
The Guard says the work is expected to be finished in spring 2011.
The project is a collaboration of the Nebraska Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. The 33,000-square-foot facility will replace the Guard's current McCook center.
A groundbreaking was held Monday in Columbus for a similar project.
