Sunlight ushers in spring, joy

Squinting never felt so good. After 11 straight cloudy days, the sun popped out Wednesday in Omaha and will hang around most of the region Thursday.

Don't be surprised if that burst of light makes you feel just a little better.

Sunlight helps increase a hormone that can brighten your mood. Sunlight also triggers the production of vitamin D in the body, which keeps bones strong. Some studies even suggest that vitamin D helps keep the body's immune system healthy.
