Senator faces new kind of horror

world-herald bureau

LINCOLN — As if serving in the Nebraska Legislature isn’t blood-curdling enough, one state senator is taking a role in a low-budget horror film.

Lincoln Sen. Colby Coash, who was a performing arts major in college, said Wednesday he will play the role of Sgt. Bob Merrill in “Blood Rites,” a feature-length horror/suspense movie being shot in Lincoln in April.

While campaigning for the Legislature in 2008, Coash said, he met the film’s director, Dorothy Booraem, as she was shooting a scene for another horror movie.

Will something gory, such as having his head cut off, happen to the senator in the film? Coash said he wasn’t sure — he hadn’t read the script yet.

Booream’s last film, “Wake the Witch,” is scheduled for distribution via Video On Demand (VOD) later this year, Coash said.
