Quality of pot drops after raids

LINCOLN (AP) — Police say the recent raids on marijuana operations have cut the amount of good-quality pot available in Lincoln but has not appreciably reduced the total available.

According to spokeswoman Katie Flood, anti-drug officers say lower-quality Mexican marijuana is still plentiful.

Flood says two raids Wednesday evening bring the total number of house raids to 10 since March 5.

She says all 10 growing operations are related, six people have been arrested and more arrests are expected.

She says nearly 6,600 pot plants total have been seized at the 10 houses.

The department estimates about $1,500 in sales from each plant each year, which would bring the total street value of the seized plants’ production to about $9.9 million annually.
