2 dropped from nursing home suit

LINCOLN (AP) — Part of a defamation lawsuit filed by the company that bought Lancaster County’s nursing home has been dismissed.

Hunter Management filed the lawsuit in October over comments union officials made last year about the prospect of Hunter taking over Lancaster Manor.

A judge recently dismissed two defendants: the local unit of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees union and the president of that union, which represented Lancaster Manor employees.

The judge said Hunter failed to allege that the local and its president were directly involved in the alleged defamation.

But the lawsuit is still pending against the AFSCME International union and Pam Ray, who, at a public meeting last August, questioned Hunter’s track record.
