City admin accused of tampering

SEWARD, Neb. (AP) — Seward’s city administrator has been charged with altering the termination date of his contract after it was approved.

Seward County Attorney Wendy Elston charged Dan Berlowitz this week with abusing public records.

Berlowitz was ticketed for the misdemeanor and ordered to appear on court on April 7.

Berlowitz did not immediately respond to a message from The Associated Press Thursday morning, and he does not have a lawyer listed in the case.

Last May, the Seward City Council asked the Nebraska State Patrol and attorney general’s office to investigate after the council found a version of Berlowitz’s contract that appeared to have a different termination date than what was approved.
