Nebraska women's basketball fans who expect to see Sunday's game against Northern Iowa in its entirety might be in for a surprise.
A spokeswoman for the ESPN family of networks said ESPN2 will try to showcase the 6 p.m. game regionally in Nebraska and Iowa. But ESPN2 also has live coverage pegged for the 6 p.m. time slot for three other games: Green Bay vs. Virginia, San Diego State vs. Texas and Arkansas-Little Rock vs. Georgia Tech.
In other areas of the country, ESPN2 is scheduled to show all four games during that time slot in a “whip-around format,'' meaning that the network will constantly shift from game to game instead of showing one game in its entirety. Closer games usually merit more air time.
That could still be the case in the second half of a runaway game regardless of regional importance. And network switching problems also have come into play.
