A list of metro-area Easter egg hunts

Here’s a sampling of area Easter egg hunts throughout the metropolitan area the next two weekends.

March 27

9 a.m., Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4117 Terrace Drive, egg hunt and other activities, including a reading of the Easter story, crafts and snacks.

10 a.m. (rain or shine), Council Bluffs Jaycees egg hunt at Roberts Park, 1000 N. 25th St. Members of the Council Bluffs Fire and Police Departments will be on hand with goodies for the kids, too.

10 a.m., Gretna community hunt, North Park in Gretna. Sponsored by Journey Church. (April 4 rain date.)

10 a.m., St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, 5020 Grand Ave., will hold their annual Easter Egg hunt for children ages 3 through sixth grade. Bring your own basket.

11 a.m., Pheasant Run Neighborhood Association egg hunt for neighborhood children ages 2 to 10 on the athletic field at Anderson Middle School, 156th and Adams Streets.

11 a.m., beeping egg hunt at Garden of the Bible, 14057 Flanagan Blvd. on the Boys Town campus. For children with hearing loss, hosted by Boys Town National Research Hospital. For more information, call 498-6640.

Noon, Hillsborough Neighborhood Association egg hunt for neighborhood families and their friends at the south end of Hillsborough Park. The hunt is divided into age groups, with each group competing at a different time.

1 p.m., City of Papillion at Halleck Park Shelter, for kids 12 and under. Sponsored by Papillion Recreation Department, Papio Creek Church, Papillion-La Vista South Key Club, the Olivo family and the Mayor’s Youth Council. There also will be games, activities and snacks.

2 p.m., City of Ralston, at the Ralston High School football field. Sponsored by JCI Ralston. Rain or shine.

2 p.m., Bass Pro Shops, 2901 Bass Pro Drive in Council Bluffs, free Easter egg hunt for children 8 and under. (Will be repeated March 28 and April 3 and 4.)


March 28

1 p.m., Latino Peace Officers Association 10th annual Easter egg hunt at Spring Lake Park, 13th and J Streets. Rain date is April 3. Prizes include bikes, footballs, stuffed bunnies and other prizes.

2 p.m., Camp Fontanelle’s Easter Family Fun Day in Nickerson, Neb. Free activities, including tree climbing for eggs, egg dyeing (bring your own hard-boiled eggs), egg hunts and laser tag, weather permitting. For more information: www.campfontanelle.com or 402-478-4296.

2 p.m., Alpha Xi Delta Easter Egg Hunt at Elmwood Park for children of all ages. Event is free, however donations will be taken for Autism Speaks.

2 p.m., Luther Memorial Lutheran Church at 61st Street and Western Avenue, Palm Sunday Community Easter Egg Hunt. Hunt for candy-filled eggs, make crafts and enjoy fellowship.

2:30 p.m., The Ridges Homeowners Association will hold an Easter Egg hunt for residents at Center Ridge Park.

4 p.m., Pacific Springs Assembly of God Church, 17515 Pacific St., Palm Sunday Easter Egg Hunt (rain or shine). Other activities include a coloring contest, door prizes, music, balloons, face painting and games. For more information, call 334-1140.


April 3

9 a.m., Easter Extravaganza at Lauritzen Gardens. Carrot craft activities, photos with the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt. An additional $3 per child is charged for photos and activities. Standard garden admission rates otherwise apply; members admitted free. Due to limited capacity, advance registration is required for all of the activities. RSVP to 346-4002, ext. 262.

10 a.m., Candlewood Neighborhood Association, Easter egg hunt for residents and their relatives, at Candlewood Park.

10 a.m., Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 7706 S. 96th St., annual Easter egg hunt for children, infants to age 7. Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet everyone.

10 a.m., Dundee Presbyterian Church, 5312 Underwood Ave., Easter egg hunt for children and their families.

10 a.m., St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 15050 West Maple Road, Easter egg hunt, kid crafts and learning about Easter.

10:15 a.m., City of La Vista hunt, La Vista Sports Complex (south of Harrison on 66th Street). Staggered starts: 4 and under, 10:15 a.m.; 5 and 6, 10:20 a.m.; 7 to 9, 10:25 a.m.; and 10 to 12, 10:30 a.m.

Noon, Gifford Park Neighborhood Association, 21st annual Easter egg hunt for children 12 and under, rain or shine, at Gifford Park.

1 p.m., Country Club Neighborhood Association, Easter egg hunt for residents up to age 12. Meet at 2298 Country Club Ave. near the landscaped triangles.
