What a difference a month makes. March ended with no snow on the ground and the highest temperatures in Omaha in six months. Highs the past two days have been about 20 degrees above normal. The last time temperatures topped 75 was the end of September.
Wednesday's high was 80 not a record but a relief.
Contrast that with March 1, when the mercury topped out at 35, almost 10 degrees below normal, according to the National Weather Service. Two inches of snow remained and the city was nearing the end of its record period for consecutive days with snow on the ground.
More unseasonably warm weather, with a high near 80, is forecast for Thursday. Rain is forecast for Friday and Saturday. Easter egg hunts should go off without a hitch Sunday, when partly sunny skies and highs in the mid- to upper 60s are forecast.
