9:44 p.m.: Following up on a previous Big Red Today blog post, there would seem to be some roadblocks with a future Nebraska-Wisconsin football series.
According to Badgers coach Bret Bielema on his Twitter account, a two-game series for Wisconsin would include a home game in 2012 and a road game in 2015. Nebraska already has a game at UCLA on its 2012 schedule.
The problem? NU has not played two true road games in a nonconference schedule since going to Illinois and South Carolina in 1986. The Huskers annually rely on at least seven home games, and sometimes eight, for financial purposes. Would they go against that thinking?
Also, Nebraska already has nonconference road games scheduled for 2011 (Wyoming), 2013 (Southern Mississippi), 2014 (Fresno State), 2015 (Miami) and 2017 (Tennessee). Only 2016 currently is without a nonconference road trip.
Neither NU or Wisconsin officials could be reached for comment Tuesday. Nebraska generally declines to discuss scheduling matters until deals are finalized.
Bielema said in the tweet that Wisconsin is "trying to lock up" a home-and-home series with Nebraska or Notre Dame.
