Activate Omaha is unveiling plans for new bike trails in north Omaha at a community meeting Thursday evening.
The proposed trails and other cycling facilities at Adams Park will be "inviting for all kinds of riders on all kinds of bikes," said Tammie Dodge, project manager for Activate Omaha. "Our hope is that once riders develop their biking skills the park, they'll have the confidence to bike outside its borders."
The meeting will start 6 p.m. inside the Adams Park Community Center, 3230 John Creighton Blvd.
The trail plans were prepared by the International Mountain Biking Association's Trail Solutions program.
Activate Omaha has also partnered on the project with the city's Parks, Recreation and Public Property Department, T.H.O.R trail advocacy club and the National Parks Service's Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program.
The trails would be built in phases and scaled to meet the needs of both the neighborhood and the biking community, Dodge said.
Maps of the proposed bike trails and facilities for Adams Park will be available at the meeting. For more information, call Dodge at 934-5923 or Tammie@activateomaha.org.
