A new postage stamp that features the Nebraska flag and a center-pivot irrigation system was unveiled Friday.
Mayor Jim Suttle attended a ceremony Friday morning with Omaha Postmaster Keith Reid. Suttle said the stamp “captures the pride we have in our state and highlights the important role that agriculture has traditionally played in Nebraska's economy.”
Gov. Dave Heineman and Secretary of State John Gale were scheduled to join postal officials for a ceremony at the State Capitol in Lincoln on Friday afternoon.
The Nebraska stamp will be sold as part of a 50-stamp roll with five stamps from each of nine states, as well as five stamps depicting the American flag.
The Postal Service plans to issue stamps representing all 50 states, five territories and the District of Columbia.
