4:44 p.m.: Two or three months ago it looked as if Ndamukong Suh and Adam Carriker were bound to be NFL teammates in St. Louis.
By Thursday night, it's possible that neither will be Rams.
St. Louis on Tuesday traded Carriker to Washington, where he will be reunited with former Rams coach Jim Haslett, the Redskins' defensive coordinator. Carriker, who missed all of last season with injuries, was the Rams' first-round pick in 2007 and the No. 13 overall selection.
"Adam is a guy who our staff is very familiar with. He is talented and has an incredible work ethic," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said. "We feel he will fit in our scheme and will help us reach our defensive goals."
St. Louis, meanwhile, still appears poised to take former Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford with the No. 1 overall pick when the NFL draft starts Thursday night. The Rams all along, however, have kept close tabs on Suh, the 2009 Associated Press national player of the year.
Should anything be read into the Rams dumping a defensive tackle two days before the draft? Probably not. The Rams still need a quarterback and General Manager Billy Devaney has said the team had enough depth at defensive tackle to spare Carriker, who didn't quite fit St. Louis' defensive scheme.
