12:31 a.m.: It looks as if the Kyle Vanden Bosch-Ndamukong Suh pairing is getting off to a nice mentor-protege start in Detroit.
According to the Detroit News, Vanden Bosch texted Suh on Sunday night reminding him of the next day. It read: "6:45 (a.m.) lift. Be there."
Suh made it and the two former Nebraska defensive linemen started off Lions organized team activities on the right foot. This week is the first time that Detroit rookies and veterans have been together.
"I've been working out with him the last two days," Suh said. "And I'll continue to work out with him, as long as he'll let me."
Suh is the rookie defensive tackle from NU who was the No. 2 overall pick in last month's draft. Vanden Bosch is the nine-year veteran defensive end who played the last five seasons with Tennessee.
It wasn't a perfect start for Suh or running back Jahvid Best as they took the field Tuesday. Of the Lions' first two draft picks, head coach Jim Schwart told the Detroit News: "Their heads were swimming a little bit. They thought they were far along after rookie camp. And then they realized (Tuesday) how far they have to go still. But both guys obviously show why we drafted them, just running around athletically and things like that."
