Having just graduated fourth in her class at Omaha South High, the young woman ran three blocks from the commencement ceremony to the soccer stadium, still wearing her cap and gown.
“My whole family sprinted there,” said Rosary Loera. “I'm not able to describe the incredible feeling, the pride we had in the team their hard work and dedication.”
The game was already under way. But a perfect night spring weather, graduation and the boys state championship soccer game ended in a taunting insult. Homemade “green cards” were thrown from the Lincoln East section onto the field at the end of the game, diminishing and disgracing the victory.
