Reader comments on La Casa

Just read your review about La Casa hamburger pizza and had a strong urge to drive to Omaha today (from St. Louis) for pizza! It literally made my mouth water.

I ate my first hamburger pizza in 1955 as a freshman in high school and have never even tasted anything else at La Casa. Didn't know how new it was in '55. I eat there every time I visit Omaha which hasn't been often enough.

Thanks for such good memories.

Finally, you hit on a place that I've been eating at since they opened.

I always get the Classic. I didn't hardly realize there was anything else until you mentioned it.

During football season, I get one every Sunday to take home and watch the second game. During the warmer months, I repeat the process, only about every other Sunday though.

Yes, I'm fat and ugly, but at my age, who cares?

I love this restaurant. I grew up on La Casa pizza, and it is still a treat each time I go there. Nothing but good things to say.

I grew up with LaCasa pizza and still can't find a better pie. My siblings and I noticed our kids didn't like LaCasa until about age 10. Prior to that, they prefer the chewy, cheesy stuff like Pizza Hut or Godfather's. The pizza chains make their killing with the crowd looking for convenience. LaCasa may not have the volume of a Godfathers but they have an extremely loyal following.

When I host visitors to Omaha, LaCasa ranks right up there with the zoo on the list of “Omaha musts.” The Grover location doesn't have the ambience of Leavenworth, but for some reason Grover's take-out pizza is better than Leavenworth's (same boxes, but the Leavenworth take-out dries out faster than Grover's). It kills us to admit that because we grew up in the Leavenworth dining room and the classic take-out counter along the west side of the building. (At the Grover location), remember to bring cash, no plastic.

An Omaha classic.

Your review of La Casa made me want to hop a flight to Omaha and do nothing but eat at La Casa.

I left Omaha 37 years ago and moved to Houston, but I will never get over craving the Classic Hamburger with Romano. Once or twice when I've been back home, I did not get to go to La Casa and left feeling absolutely deprived.

Can La Casa be convinced to ship pizza to those of us who live in utter deprivation?
